Boom! Teen Club

Boom! is a Credit Union program that offers, ages 13 – 19, the freedom and independence needed to handle your financial matters. Boom! and PEFCU can teach you everything you need to know about making, saving , and spending money. It doesn't matter if this is your first financial account or if you've had one for years, Boom! will prove to offer something for everyone.

Here's a list of Boom! benefits:

1. Savings Account - This account is required to become a member of PEFCU and Boom! With a Savings Account it will be easy to keep track of your money and even watch your money grow. It's also a great way to show your parents that you are becoming financially responsible. By saving with Boom!, once your account is at our $50 minimum you will earn dividends on your balance. There are no monthly maintenance fees, only an initial deposit of $5 to open the account, then you will have 6 months to reach our minimum $50 balance before a $2 charge will be applied for being below the $50 balance. You can make deposits by mail (click here for Bank-by-Mail) or by dropping by one of our offices.

2. Checking Account - A Boom! Checking Account lets you make purchases without having to carry cash. Combining our CheckMate Debit Card with your Checking Account will make purchasing quick and simple. Whether you're at the mall, grocery store, fast food restaurant, gas station, or movie theater a CheckMate Debit Card is the easy way to use your money.

     Checking Account requirements:

  • Age 13 and above are eligible for a Checking Account & CheckMate Debit Card.
  • A $25 initial deposit is required. 

Once your Checking Account is opened there will be no monthly maintenance fees and no minimum balance requirements. You will also receive free Bank-by-Mail, free Over Draft Protection from your Savings Account, and a free calculator to help keep track of your finances.

3. ATM Card - Access your Savings Account with our Presto! ATM card which is accepted at all Publix Super Market ATMs, 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.  You will receive 4 free ATM withdrawals per month.

4. Check Card - Get Worldwide access to your Checking Account and Savings Account with our CheckMate Debit Card which is accepted wherever a VISA logo is displayed. This card is free and offers free POS purchases, even from the internet. It is also an ATM card and can be used 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. You will receive 4 free ATM withdrawals per month.

5. Semi-Annual Newsletter - Keep up-to-date with our Boom! Newsletter. It will include topics about personal finance, such as: car loans, Internet transactions, and saving for college. There will also be a yearly random drawing where you could win a really cool prize.
